Martial Arts, Archery, History, Military Science, Art, Architecture, Frat and more...

Reason for Joining:

I was introduced to medieval reenactment and the household by Rufus (Bruce Brabitz ). He thought knowing my wide ranging interests, that I might enjoy frat combat. But it is not only combat that I enjoy but the art and science as well. There are many people that share some of my interests within the house and some that have knowledge that I would like to acquire. Also, I consider the members of the house " my friends " and value their opinions, ideas and company.

I am a certified Tai Chi instructor and have interests in other martial arts as well. I have attempted to paint landscapes in the past. Woodworking has always had a little place in my heart. But I have always had an interest in the " Art of War " both from a European and Asian model. The art of war says it best " Know thy enemy and know thy self and you shall never be defeated." So I am in constant training to " know myself ." Also the concept of " More sweat in the training hall means less blood on the battlefield" is a signpost that says if you love what you do, PRACTICE!  (I also am a 2nd Degree Black Belt in Shaolin Kempo Karate through the Villari System)

I am currently enrolled at West Chester University, pursuing my Masters Degree in History. I have a BA in Asian Studies from Temple University. I also have two associates degrees, but I am on a journey to improve myself.
Shen Lung, Translation: Spirit Dragon

My name is Shen Lung and I was born in the city of Guangzhou. This is the capital city of Guangdong (Canton) province. The year was 1304 A.D. My father a merchant and trader. My mother came from an aristocratic family. Much of my youth was spent preparing for the Civil Service Exam. I passed the Cosmopolitan and Provincial levels, but I did not continue on to the Imperial levels of examination. With experience in the family business as well as being assigned to a trading fleet, my true education was started.

My travels went from Zanzibar to Borneo, from the Silla empire to the Straits of Malacca, and all in between. Fourteen years on the sea led me to many cultures and civilizations, but I was still traveling. I decided that I wanted to see more, so I began to travel with the caravans along the Silk Road. My training along the way included everything economic, cultural, scientific, medical, and martial. Another fourteen years was spent traveling on land this time.

I was given more freedom, when I was able to leave the bureaucracy. With knowledge hard fought, I started to travel further along the Silk Road. I encountered many on my path. One of the few that stick out was a man by the name of "Rufus Johnstone." He recognized that those of good value in a hard world are hard to find. So through this extraordinary Scot, I found a group of true individuals.

My travels will again take me all over this constantly changing world, but to those who I come across on the path, I will assist where, when, and how is appropriate. Please remember that all have much to give, but it is always good to give to those who give to you.

"Come in like the wind, leave like the lightning" (Sun Tzu)

"Watch and Learn" (Anthony Lorenzo)
