The St. Louis Rams have released wide receiver Torry Holt, a key member of the team's "Greatest Show on Turf" days. The move announced Friday comes three days after the Rams released 33-year-old tackle Orlando Pace. Releasing Pace and the 32-year-old Holt creates $14 million in salary cap space for the Rams. The team is trying to get younger as it rebuilds after going 2-14 in 2008 and 5-27 over the last two seasons.

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Matt Jones was released a day early from a weeklong stay in jail for drinking beer in violation of his plea agreement for a drug charge. The sheriff's department said Judge Mary Ann Gunn issued an order Friday saying Jones could leave the lockup in Fayetteville on Saturday morning. No reason was given. Jones awaits An April 13 court appearance. Messages left with Jones' attorney and agent weren't immediately returned.

The Green Bay Packers will retire Brett Favre's No. 4 jersey at some point, and team president and CEO Mark Murphy envisions a day when Favre is once again part of the family. But given the messy divorce between Favre and the Packers last year, the reconciliation - and the ceremony - probably won't happen this year. "I don't anticipate it this season," Murphy said Saturday, speaking to reporters at the team's annual "fan fest" at Lambeau Field. "Obviously we will do it.

Police in Miami Beach say Cleveland Browns wide receiver Donte Stallworth has hit and killed a pedestrian with his Bentley. Police spokesman Juan Sanchez says Stallworth hit a man crossing the busy causeway that links downtown Miami with Miami Beach around 7 a.m. Saturday. The man was pronounced dead at a trauma center. He was near a crosswalk but it's not clear if he was crossing legally. Stallworth is cooperating and no charges have been filed.

Bill Parcells is staying with the Miami Dolphins, owner Wayne Huizenga said. After the team's playoff loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, Huizenga said Parcells has decided to remain for another season. Parcells' contract allows him to leave and still receive the $9-12 million remaining on his four-year contract if the franchise is sold. That sale is expected to be completed soon.
